It is a kick to initiate ACFLS’ new Family Law Blog. I’ll be blogging regularly on custody, parentage, jurisdiction and family court reform issues. We’re hoping other members will decide to contribute regular blogs reporting on their areas of practice and interests.
The ACFLS blog is a great place for extended discussions of issues that may start on the list serv — such as our recent conversations about the Proposition Eight cases.
By the way, you can read all of the court orders and briefs in the Prop 8 cases (including more than 60 amici briefs) at http://www.courtinfo.ca.gov/courts/supreme/highprofile/prop8.htm. The March 5, 2009 oral argument will be broadcast on the California Channel, and webcast (and archived for later viewing) at http://www.calchannel.com/.

How do you find the “California Channel?”
Frieda –
I included a link to the California Channel’s website in the post above. Here it is again: http://www.calchannel.com/.
Here’s what they list for “coming events”:
03/05/09 – 9:00 AM (LIVE) California Supreme Court: Oral Arguments on Proposition 8 – Ban on Same Sex Marriage
03/10/09 – 5:00 PM (LIVE) California State of the Judiciary: California Supreme Court Chief Justice Ronald George Delivers Annual State of the Judiciary Address
If you have a fast internet connection, you can watch the live or archived webcast on your computer at that link. Some cable companies carry the California Channel and let you watch on TV. See http://www.calchannel.com/channel/carriage/. I just checked and found that it is Channel 233 on TimeWarner for my part of the San Fernando Valley. In Sherman Oaks and in Santa Monica it is Channel 10 and Channel 233 — so you can watch from home or work.
