A good starting point if you are looking for online appraisers, this provides a list of many of the top names, including Christies, Sotheby’s, etc.

While not a free site, eppraisals.com will for a modest fee get you or your client an appraisal or a second opinion on an object d’art, antique, etc.

This is the home page of the Association of Online Appraisers. Just what you would imagine, a good starting point in looking for same.

This site provides free home valuations very simply and easily. However, for detailed information, you do have to register with the site, but it remains free.

A very easy to use free site that allows you to find the previous sale price of a particular house (by address), the sales of homes on a specified street or a range of addresses, and even a list of all homes sold within a certain price range in a general area. Also available through the site are mortgage calculators, and a variety of tools for analyzing the cost of purchasing a home or other real property.

This is the Los Angeles Times home price service, providing comparables by neighborhood, house size, etc. for six Southern California counties. Very user friendly and very free. For a relatively small fee, dataquick also offers a home sales report, neighborhood demographic report, and local crime report throughout the state, and indeed much of the country.
